Corridor Study and Environmental Overview

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are conducting an engineering and environmental study to develop corridor alternatives along US 191 between State Route 266 and US 70 in Graham County, Arizona.  The purpose of this long-range study is to address anticipated growth in the Gila Valley including the communities of Safford, Thatcher and Pima.

Since the public information meeting in March 2011, the study team has been refining potential corridors based on input received from the public, stakeholders and elected officials.  The public is encouraged to attend this public information meeting to receive a study update, view the corridor alternatives and provide comments.  A formal presentation will be given at 5:45 p.m.  The study team will also be available before and after the presentation to answer any questions.

Written comments must be submitted by March 22, 2012, to be included as part of the official public record.

Design Concept Report and Environmental Assessment

The Arizona Department of Transportation and the Federal Highway Administration are conducting an engineering and environmental study to develop corridor alternatives along US 191 between State Route 266 and US 70 in Graham County, Arizona.  ADOT and FHWA extended a public invitation to attend a meeting to learn more about the study and the proposed alternatives on March 16th, 2011.

The purpose of the study was to relieve congestion and improve traffic flow on US 191.  Following the public meeting in September 2010, the study team considered the public input received and further evaluated and developed the corridor alternatives.

The public was encouraged to attend this informational public meeting to receive a study update, view the revised corridor alternatives, and provide comments.  The study team was also available before and after the presentation to answer any questions.

Local Agency Coordination Meeting 

The Arizona Department of Transportation held a meeting with elected officials of the Gila Valley on Monday, January 24, 2011 in the Graham County General Services Building Assembly Room.

The elected officials were invited to attend this informational meeting to receive a project update and provide comments on the refined corridor alternatives based on comments from County residents and input from  a November 15, 2010 Stakeholders meeting.

Design Concept Report and Environmental Assessment

The Arizona Department of Transportation held a public meeting on Thursday, September 23, 2010 in the Graham County General Services Building Assembly Room. 

ADOT is developing corridor alternatives and conducting environmental studies, which may lead to intersection improvements and a new roadway alignment along US 191 between SR 266 and US 70 in Graham County.  The purpose of the project is to relieve congestion and improve traffic flow.

Graham County residents were invited to attend this informational public meeting to view the new corridor alternatives, receive a project update and provide comments.  A formal presentation was given at 5:30 p.m. and the project team was available to answer any questions.  The Power Point presentation has been made available for you to view on our web site.
